VIII Buturlin readings

From September 24–26, 2026, the VIII All-Russian International Buturlin Readings will be held in Ulyanovsk—a major event in the world of ornithology and conservation!

The event is dedicated to the memory of Sergei Alexandrovich Buturlin (1872–1938), a prominent Russian ornithologist, game manager, northern explorer, and one of the founders of the conservation movement in Russia. The readings are timed to coincide with the 120th anniversary of the publication of his classic work, "Materials for the Avifauna of Simbirsk Province" (1906).

The readings will also include the Second All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference on the Study of Bird Feathers—an important event for ornithologists, museum professionals, and nature researchers. The first conference in 2021 generated a great response and interest!

The program also includes a ceremony presenting the Sergei Buturlin Medal—a symbol of recognition for outstanding achievements in ornithology and game management.
