The collection contains materials presented at the First All-Russian with international participation scientific and practical conference on the study of bird feather cover “In Buturlin's homeland”, which took place on October 22 and 23, 2021 in Ulyanovsk.

The articles cover various aspects of ptilological research: the collection and storage of feather collections, fundamental ptilological research (microscopic studies, feather morphology, ontogeny and molting), feather cover as an object of applied research (population and taxonomic studies, determining the age of birds, studying the nutrition of predatory animals), the problem of poaching and the sale of feathers of rare species of birds, bird feathers in culture, environmental education and enlightenment. The best works of the youth section are presented in a separate block.
