The last moment of the Vulture family idyll

A large bird of prey (vulture, eagle) that is disturbed on the nest during incubation always soars to a high altitude and circles the sky for a long time before returning to the nest. This enforced absence may take 20-40 minutes or even more. At minus (say 10 degrees) temperatures, the embryo in the egg can die without heating in about 15 minutes.

ESA and NASA launch revolutionary open-source platform

Today, ESA and NASA have publicly released the first globally-harmonised assessment of above ground biomass – information that is vital for managing global climate change. The Multi-Mission Algorithm and Analysis Platform (MAAP) provides seamless access to above ground biomass information from both NASA and ESA Earth observation data. The revolutionary open-science tool is now fully operational and accessible online.

The Environmental Library

Forth update of the Library of environmental literature is completed. 947 new editions are placed in two sections of the library. 917 editions have been added to the "Shared Library" section (a total of 1670 editions now); 30 editions were added to the section Library of literature on geotechnologies for the protection and study of nature (totaling 101 editions).
